Sprint joins the free Galaxy Nexus party:
The Galaxy Nexus may not have the most advanced specs anymore compared to the newer Android phones available in the market, but it does hit the sweet spot between hardware, software and price. If the latter was the biggest concern that’s been holding you back from diving in, the time for hesitation is through, as Sprint is now offering the Galaxy Nexus for free.
You will have to be a new subscriber or add a new line to your Sprint’s account to take advantage of the offer. Tick one of the boxes there and the Galaxy Nexus can be yours in 2-5 business days, provided you agree to use Sprint’s voice and data service for the next two years.
The Galaxy Nexus holds the double honor of being the first phone to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, though the latter is yet to reach Sprint’s variant. What’s more — the chance for it to receive the next iteration of Android OS, be it Kandy Kane or Key Lime Pie, is pretty good.
With its expansive 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and NFC — the Galaxy Nexus can still easily compete with the best of them.
