Google hits

Last month, Google broke the record for the most visited site in the space of a month, with them smashing their previous record, 931 million, and breaking into new territory; 1 billion hits. On top of this, Facebook has just announced that they're nearing 1 billion users, with the company hitting 750 million users.

Grum botnet taken down, along with lots of spam emails


If your spam folder on your email account has a lot less emails inside today, you can thank the people who participated in the shut down of one of the biggest botnets on the Internet. The Grum botnet was closed earlier this week after security researchers managed to shut down the Internet connections of the botnet's main servers.

CNN.com reports that the shut down operation began on Tuesday, when a Dutch ISP cut off the net connection to two of the botnet's servers. Another server, based in Panama, was found and had its Internet connection severed. One server remained online in Russia, but the Grum botnet's unknown operators tried to bring a backup server in the Ukraine online



Zeus Botnets

If you read this website, chances are you are familiar with the concept of a botnet. It's a series of PCs that are all infected with malware and are use by the software's creators to mostly spam emails to others. Microsoft has made a big effort to stamp out PC botnets. In fact, it announced just this week that it named two defendants in its takedown of the Zeus botnet.

Why is Facebook satisfaction dropping?




There have been a decreasing number of Facebook users which is clearly based on the satisfaction these users get when using Facebook. Facebook’s satisfaction statistics have dropped by eight points based on a statistic published by the ACSI (American Customer Satisfaction Index), leaving its current score at 61. The eight point drop in satisfaction doesn’t seem that bad right? Wrong. The drop means that Facebook is the fourth-lowest score among all the 230 companies surveyed in the “e-business" category.

Just two days after The New York Times discovered a loophole that could allow unauthorized copying of iOS photos, they now report that the same issue exists on Android, and doesn't even require special permission. As long as an Android app has permission to access the Internet, it can copy any photos to a remote server without notifying or asking the user at all.
