2K games and OXM make Vault Hunter competition:

Publishing giant 2K games has announced a partnership with Official Xbox Magazine to create a special promotion for the release of Borderlands 2.
On the 8th of August when the special editions of the mag are released, they will
come with various covers featuring characters from the upcoming game. The backgrounds will have different colours, ranging through green, blue and more; but 10 of them will be gold and show a picture of the “Claptrap Gold Vault Hunter.” If readers can find one of those copies, they will be eligible to win an HDTV and a signed copy of the game.

Will you go hunting for the gold?

“We want to turn gamers into ‘Vault Hunters’ and encourage them to get out and hunt the golden covers down,” explained 2K’s Ben Lawrence (via MCVUK).
“Those who successfully find a golden cover will win a HDTV and a signed copy of the game from Randy Pitchford.”
Of course most gamers won’t be in with a chance, even if the Magazine readership numbers are gradually dropping as people get and more of their news and information digitally. Those that end up picking up a standard copy of the mag will still be able to learn a lot of new information about the game apparently. OXM editor Jon Hicks said: “Gearbox couldn’t have been more helpful getting Claptrap involved, and told us plenty of new stuff about the game too.”
Borderlands 2 will hit the shelves on the 21st of September here, three days after the US release.
